Several major events of Hollywood’s awards season have been canceled or delayed in the wake of the L.A. wildfires. The 2025 Oscar nominations have once again delayed the announcement of nominees for the 97th Academy Awards due to the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, which have caused widespread devastation and claimed 25 lives. Originally set for Jan. 17 and then pushed back to Jan. 19th, the nominations will now be unveiled on Jan. 23.
Additionally, the Academy extended this year’s Oscar nominations voting period through Jan. 17 and canceled the annual nominee’s luncheon, which was scheduled for Feb. 10.
The Academy said it plans to honor frontline workers and support wildfire relief efforts this year. The 97th Academy Awards are still scheduled to take place March 2nd in Hollywood, hosted by Conan O’Brien.
