Recently, we shared with you the nominees for this year’s class for the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Some impressive names like Billy Idol, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, Black Crowes, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, Phish and Mariah Carey. Fan voting is underway, now through April 2nd, and you can cast your vote here: https://vote.rockhall.com/
If I were to only cast one vote, it would be for the late Joe Cocker or Billy Idol. Joe had such a unique voice and energy. I had the pleasure of seeing him at ‘Deer Creek’ (now Ruoff Music Center) back in the day. Even at his age then, he was still incredible! And I grew up with Billy Idol, so of course I’m a fan. His punk rock style blazed the way for numerous other artists.
As of today (February 21st), the current ‘Fan Vote’ standing looks like this:
#1 Phish
#2 Billy Idol
#3 Soundgarden
#4 Cyndi Lauper
#5 Bad Company
#6 Joe Cocker
#7 Chubby Checker
#8 The Black Crowes
#9 Mariah Carey
#10 Outkast
With a rebel yell, a crooner’s soul, and undeniable charisma, @BillyIdol delivered punk rock to the masses, who were hungry for more.
