I was on the edge of my seat. Scott Dixon, who for most of the race looked like he was going to run away with it, was trying in vain to chase down Takuma Sato. Both of them had won the race before. Dixon is known as the greatest currently active driver and Sato is well liked for his big smile. I wasn’t sure who to root for. The laps kept counting off, wheel to wheel dueling at 220mph! And BAM! It’s over. Some dude wrecks and the Indy 500 limps to a snoozer of a finish. I immediately googled Indy 500 and this guy popped up…
That #Indy500 finish is about as 2020 as it gets.

That pretty much says it all.
On a positive note there are some things to be really excited about for next year. The facility looked great. You could tell things have been Penske-fied. I also really loved the elevated Victory Lane and Roger Penske making the call to start engines.
So even if we were robbed of a crazy shoot out at the end, I think a year away will create a groundswell of excitement for May 2021. Can’t wait!
