Monday night was a special episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden… Social distancing has led to the shutdown of worksites of all kinds in order to keep people safe and to slow the spread of Coronavirus (aka COVID-19) in the the United States. Like most daily/nightly shows, The Late Late Show halted production. Many hosts wound up doing versions of their shows via social media complete with opening monologues, bits, and even interviews with celebrities.
James Corden picked up on that and did an at-home hour-long special with a smattering of guests and musical performances all from afar. The intimacy was real despite the distance. Corden soothed the audience by recognizing that people everywhere are scared and uncertain right now. He added that this was show was “about bringing people together to keep them apart.” He touches on the idea that this virus has actually united the world in something and reminds us that we need one another.
Here are a FEW highlights that I was feelin’…
From her home in London, Dua Lipa slaaaayed a live version of “Don’t Start Now.” She even had dancers individual shots like it was a full stage performance! Respect.
BTS did not disappoint in a live run-through of “Boy With Luv.”
Will Ferrell shared some great songs to wash your hands to. He’s no Snoop, but I thoroughly enjoy his version of “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
I hope this made you smile and maybe even happy-cry. At least, that’s how I’m doing with it.
