Christmas has its slew of songs. I can hear the whistles of Mariah Carey in the distance just thinking about it. What about Thanksgiving tunes? We took the time to gather up some songs for the upcoming holiday.
1. First up, king of holiday comedy songs, Adam Sandler’s “Thanksgiving Song”:
2. The point of the holiday is in the name. Giving thanks. On her debut album, Kelly Clarkson came out with a slow jam dedicated to being thankful:
3. Boyz II Men made an a capella anthem for thanking the people that have always been there for you perfect for Thanksgiving:
4. Here we have a Kanye classic from before he went off the walls, I assume, about family and being home together. “Family Business”:
5. Family can really grind your gears around the holiday, but Kacey Musgraves is here to remind you that even if the fam annoys the life out of you, “Family is Family” and they love you:
6. Kacey Musgraves is about to come out with a holiday special, but I often recall the beautiful shenanigans of Lady Gaga’s Thanksgiving specials. If you can find footage from these TV and cultural EVENTS, I highly suggest you watch (here’s her maybe-NSFW number with Rupaul). Here’s a stripped version of “You and I” from A Very Gaga Thanksgiving:
7. What’s a holiday without a little Charlie Brown! Give the theme of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving a listen:
8. Thanksgiving is all about that FOOOOOD and I hope who you’re spending time with is “Cooking Up Something Good”. This Mac DeMarco song serves a little indie flavor to your music plate:
9. If you’re feeling up to learning a new dance after stuffing your face, you can learn to do the Mashed Potato while listening to “(Do The) Mashed Potatoes” by James Brown:
10. Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season and what better song to send us into it with the absolute BOP, “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by N*SYNC:
Hope these songs make your Turkey Day even better! Safe travels and have fun!
