107.9 The Mix invites you to nominate an incredible woman in your life—the one who gives selflessly and rarely gets the recognition she deserves.
She might be a mom and a career woman who gets it all in and will still drop everything when a friend needs her. Or your child’s teacher that goes above and beyond to help the kids in her class. Let’s shine a spotlight on the women who truly do it all!
Woman of the Week is a month‑long celebration of the amazing women in our lives. They’re your Mom, Co-worker, teacher, friend or spouse. Nominate your Woman of the Week below! Every woman that gets recognized will win a pair of tickets to see Meghan Trainor in concert and a pre-show happy hour at Eddie Merlots on 96th Street.
Woman of the Week 3/16:
Emily nominated her boss, Amanda:
“Amanda is my boss, but has also become a great friend. She is a mom of many boys; on top of being a mom, she is also a wife and a full time store manager for our store. She is highly dedicated to her job, family and most of all her employees!
She will go above and beyond for us. She never puts her work down and is always available to jump in and keep going; she takes care of her family and us – her work family! She makes sure our store gets involved in the community, feeding our local EMS, fire, police, and sheriffs departments to appreciate them weekly! She stays involved in the community with the elementary schools by donating pizza slices to read to keep kids motivated to read and learn. She never stops and takes a moment for herself. Amanda is a wonderful woman with a selfless heart and a never give up or quit attitude! She is a wonderful woman and deserves all the thanks and attention on her!”
Woman of the Week 3/9:
Christina nominated her sister, Kendra:
“I would love to nominate my sister because she is truly one of the most selfless, resilient, and compassionate women I know.
Most mornings she starts her day before the sun even rises, driving a school bus and safely carrying some very precious cargo. But to her, those students are more than just passengers, they’re her kids.
Every single morning she greets each student with a smile and a “good morning.” She asks them how their night was, checks in with them about their day, and truly listens to their stories. She remembers what is going on in their lives, asks about their high of the day, and she makes sure every child feels seen and cared for before they even walk into school. She isn’t just driving a bus, she is building relationships and making kids feel important.
She has been a surrogate not once, but twice. giving two families the incredible gift of becoming parents. It takes a very special kind of person to make that kind of sacrifice for others.
Life has also tested her in ways many people never experience. She survived a near-death health situation and has had to rebuild her life from the ground up after having the rug pulled out from under her during a painful breakup.
Through it all, she never stopped showing up.
She is also a single mom raising her teenage daughter completely on her own, something that is definitely not for the faint of heart. Yet she does it with strength, patience, and so much love.
Instead of letting the hard things in life make her bitter, they made her even more compassionate. Her dream is to open a nonprofit one day to help people when life suddenly turns upside down because she knows firsthand how hard it can be when you’re forced to start over.
No matter what she has been through, she always shows up with open arms, a huge smile, and a heart ready to help anyone who needs it.
But the part I love most is this: to the kids on her bus, she isn’t just the driver. She’s the safe place that starts and ends their school day. They know her as Ms. KeKe, and every morning they are greeted by someone who truly cares about them.
If you want to know what real strength, compassion, and resilience look like, just look at Kendra, Ms. KeKe to her bus kids. She may not realize the impact she has on the world, but so many lives are better because she’s in it.
And that’s exactly why she deserves to be recognized.”
Congratulations to our first Woman of the Week, Kendra!
